Ratecard — Terms & Privacy

This page covers what is specific to Ratecard, the shipping-rules app. It sits on top of the terms and privacy notice common to every Keelhelm app; read them together.

What Ratecard reads and does

Ratecard requests access to your shipping settings and locations, and read access to your products, to build conditional shipping-rate rules, pack boxes by dimension, and return rates. Because Shopify asks Ratecard for a shipping quote during checkout, it processes the cart's contents, the destination address, and product dimension and weight data at that moment to compute the rate.

Live carrier rates and connected accounts

If you enable live carrier-calculated rates, cart and destination-address data is passed to the carrier accounts you configure so they can return a quote; those carriers handle that data under their own terms. Rate quotes are cached only briefly to answer checkout quickly.

Live carrier rates require a Shopify plan feature

Live, carrier-calculated rates at checkout depend on Shopify's Carrier Service capability, which Shopify makes available on its Advanced and Plus plans, or on any plan billed annually. This is a Shopify platform requirement, not a Ratecard charge; Ratecard's rule-based and table-rate features work without it. We state this plainly on the listing so there's no surprise.

If the rate engine can't be reached

You can configure a fallback rate that Shopify shows if Ratecard cannot return a quote in time, so checkout is never blocked.

Plans

Ratecard offers Free, Starter, Growth, and Unlimited plans, billed through Shopify (monthly, or annually at a discount). Current prices and limits are on the pricing page.

Data retention and deletion

Rate requests are processed to serve and debug checkout quotes and are retained only as long as needed for that; rule configuration is kept while Ratecard is installed. All of it is deleted or anonymized on uninstall and on Shopify's customers/redact and shop/redact requests, as described in the common privacy notice.

Ratecard is operated by Keelhelm. Beyond this page, the common app terms and app privacy notice apply, and so do the company-wide Terms, Acceptable Use, Privacy, and Copyright / DMCA policies, incorporated by reference.
